The operator page says the campus will have up to 237 MW upon completion, which conflicts with the stored planned 320 MW; the stored operational 225 MW is not stated on the operator page. The upstream row remains attributed below, but this value is not repeated as site capacity.

Dated source review

The underlying provider record is retained. These notes add source-attributed context and flag conflicts; any withheld value is explained separately. They do not certify current operation.

  • status: Provider status: under construction. The operator announced the campus's first phase open on 2017-03-09; later phases may still be in construction.

Provider notes

Energy. 100% renewable — Switch was Consumers Energy's first large-business renewable customer and negotiated a dedicated new wind project; an on-site substation provides grid interconnection (not generation). The campus is designed for up to 320 MW.

Water. No facility-specific cooling type or water volume is disclosed; the City of Grand Rapids provides water and sewer service.

Community. The project repurposed the long-vacant, iconic Steelcase 'Pyramid' and is broadly welcomed locally, with the township receiving roughly $430K/year from Switch and its tenants. But it has drawn accountability friction: an initial 1,000-job vision became a 103-job commitment, of which only 26 were created by the 2021 deadline (about 148 by later reporting), and a dispute over school capital-debt millage reached the state legislature. An announced ~$400M construction budget contrasts with ~$150M reported as actually invested by 2018.

What the source record says

Steelcase Pyramid campus, Gaines Township, Kent County MI (south of Grand Rapids; NOT the city of Wyoming, which is a separate municipality ~5 km north). Total campus target: 1.8M sq ft, 320 MW, ~$5B investment across all phases. Phase 1 (225,000 sq ft white space) and Phase 2 (312,000 sq ft) operational; Phase 3 in planning/early construction as of 2025. Michigan's largest data center by capacity. Coordinates are approximate Pyramid campus location on East Paris Ave, Gaines Township. Status re-check, NO change proposed - but flagging a possible mislabel for a maintainer. This record has the oldest basis in the state (lastUpdated 2025-01) and sits at 'under_construction' while the campus itself has been open and serving customers since 2017, with buildings added incrementally. I did NOT propose 'operational' because the only opening evidence I could fetch predates the record's own 2025-01 basis, so the maintainer may have chosen 'under_construction' deliberately to track the ongoing second/third-building expansion. Deciding this needs a maintainer's intent, not more sources. No cooling or water source was fetchable; switch.com/pyramid renders its specs via JavaScript and returned only a headline.

Capacity is not ranked or totaled here.

Any MW value is reproduced as source-reported context. Its measurement boundary is not established consistently enough for comparison. Unknown is not zero.
