Provider notes
Community. Van Meter City Administrator Liz Faust acknowledged (2024-02-02) that this project is distinguished from Microsoft's other Dallas County-area sites by having 'a residential neighborhood already next to it,' and committed only to keeping residents' interests in mind 'when we reach that phase of planning.' No formal hearing had occurred yet as of the article date; Microsoft's community-engagement process and formal city review were both still pending. …
These reviews flag conflicting scope, inconsistent source text or support that has not been established. A withheld value may appear in the explanation, but is not displayed as an established field. The upstream row remains attributed under Sources.
- Announced investment: The source note identifies $40 million as the land purchase only, not construction investment.
What the source record says
Microsoft's FIRST data center site outside the West Des Moines cluster - farmland acquired in Van Meter's Vision Park (a state-certified shovel-ready site since 2014). investmentUsd of $40M is the LAND purchase only, not construction capex. Status is early planning per the only source independently fetched this session (no confirmed site plan / construction start as of that article). Other reporting suggests up to 10 buildings and a much larger eventual campus, and a March 2026 Van Meter city council packet referenced an active 'Project Approvals' process, but neither was independently fetched/verified this session - flagging for a future pass to check current status.
Any MW value is reproduced as source-reported context. Its measurement boundary is not established consistently enough for comparison. Unknown is not zero.

That does not mean the row is wrong, and it does not mean no reviewed record exists for the same place. A link is added only when an identifier or source establishes the match.
