Provider notes

Energy. 400MW from in-state solar and wind farms committed for Phase 2 buildout

Water. Google built the Mesa campus as air-cooled, chosen for Arizona's watershed scarcity; Mesa's economic-development director described it at groundbreaking as a 'cutting-edge, air-cooled data center campus.' The 2019 City of Mesa development agreement separately provided for the city to supply up to ~1 million gallons/day at launch, scaling toward ~4 million gallons/day at full build-out — a contractual water allocation/backup (on-site storage, existing wells, acquired water rights, long-term storage credits), not confirmed operational cooling consumption. …

Community. Mesa City Council approved the $1B development and GPLET agreement in July 2019 (Mayor John Giles called it 'a home run'); one councilmember abstained as a Google shareholder and voiced reservations about large-corporation tax breaks. The city projected net positive tax revenue.

What the source record says

Three-phase campus through 2030; originally filed anonymously as Project Red Hawk via LLC Stone Applications. Phase 1 operational July 2025. Phase 2 under construction. Coordinates at Elliot and Sossaman roads, SE Mesa. 2019 development agreement requires >=$600M capex by 2025, >=$1B by 2029, 750,000 sq ft built by 2030, and a >=$65,000 average full-time data-center salary; construction workforce has been cited around 1,200 (an estimate, not a permanent-jobs count). Status reflects Phase 1 (Redhawk 1), operational since July 2025; Phases 2 and 3 remain under construction, which is why Google's own US locations index still lists Mesa under sites in development.

Capacity is not ranked or totaled here.

Any MW value is reproduced as source-reported context. Its measurement boundary is not established consistently enough for comparison. Unknown is not zero.
