Provider notes
Energy. Served via Dominion Energy's Clover Hill substation (300 MVA); a local distribution cooperative is reported to supply part of the campus. On-site backup is diesel only (28 generators at the first building).
Water. The first building (MCC1) uses a waterless air-side design — 152 Kyoto Cooling heat-wheel units driving PUE below 1.2; cooling for later buildings is not confirmed. The campus is within the Prince William Water service area.
Community. The campus opened in 2017 in a pre-designated data-center overlay zone away from the contested Manassas Battlefield corridor, and a 2025 proffer amendment for a new building was recommended for approval with no documented site-specific opposition. But Prince William County is a national data-center flashpoint — the nearby 'Digital Gateway' rezoning was voided by the Virginia Court of Appeals in 2026 after community litigation. CloudHQ is eligible for Virginia's data-center sales-and-use tax exemption, but state law bars disclosure of recipients and amounts.
