Water. The City of Hickory provides water to all Microsoft data center sites in Catawba County. Once fully operational they are projected to use about 1% of Hickory's daily water production capacity, mainly relying on less water-intensive cooling methods (county statement, June 23, 2026).

One of four Microsoft campuses in Catawba County (Conover, Hickory, Maiden, Newton). The widely cited $1 billion figure is Microsoft's county-wide minimum investment commitment over a 10-year performance window across all four sites — it is not this site's investment. No per-site capacity has been disclosed.
