Capacity held out of the public projection.

The captured CEC order identifies 72 MW as emergency backup generation. No independently reviewed source here establishes the measure of the provider’s separate planned-capacity figure; it is withheld from the public capacity field while the provider row is preserved. The upstream row remains attributed below, but this value is not repeated as site capacity.

Dated source review

The underlying provider record is retained. These notes add source-attributed context and flag conflicts; any withheld value is explained separately. They do not certify current operation.

  • Source review · reviewed 2026-10-11: Prior source review (2026-10-10): The California Energy Commission’s November 8, 2023 order describes up to 72 MW of emergency backup generation for Bowers. That is not a statement of IT load or available utility capacity. The provider separately reports 72 MW of planned capacity without an established measurement type in the sources reviewed here. That capacity field is withheld; the provider history and its backup-generation figure are preserved. The order does not establish construction or operation. Historical document addendum reviewed 2026-10-11: On November 8, 2023, CEC Order 23-1108-07 certified the Final EIR, adopted a mitigation-monitoring program with the City of Santa Clara as enforcement agency, and granted the small power plant exemption for the Bowers Backup Generating Facility, with GI Partners as applicant. The order was docketed November 9. The 2023 CEQAnet notice and 2022 CEC filing identify APN 216-28-063, 5.12 site acres and 2805 Bowers Avenue. These are historical parcel and exemption records; they do not establish current ownership, a transfer to CoreSite, building permits or operation. The exemption decision remains separate from the provider's later land-use approval history.

What the source record says

Coordinates approximate based on 2805 Bowers Ave address. Originally a GI Partners project; CoreSite (owned by American Tower) acquired in Feb 2026 and is expected to redevelop under existing permit. CoreSite already operates a dense interconnection campus nearby in Santa Clara. No construction timeline announced as of mid-2026.

Capacity is not ranked or totaled here.

Any MW value is reproduced as source-reported context. Its measurement boundary is not established consistently enough for comparison. Unknown is not zero.

These sources are listed for the whole row. Unless a figure links to its own source, the provider does not mark which one gave it, so a figure may not appear in every source.

State or local registry record

What a state or local government record says at this same street address. The record is cited, not republished. It does not establish that a data center is operating, its capacity, or its owner or operator unless the record says that role. It is not added to the counts on this page.

What this record does not establish

  • That a permit, certification, tax status, or application means an operating data center.
  • Current IT capacity, utility load, or generation capacity.
  • Who operates the site. A company named in the record is not the operator unless the record says so.
  • Cooling redundancy. Mentioned equipment is not a design rating.
  • Whether the record covers one building, a campus, or a suite, beyond the unit label the record itself uses.
No reviewed record is linked to this row yet.

That does not mean the row is wrong, and it does not mean no reviewed record exists for the same place. A link is added only when an identifier or source establishes the match.
