Provider notes
Energy. Google and OPPD built a joint procurement framework enabling Google to supply carbon-free energy resources to OPPD in support of Google's 24/7 clean energy goal, anchored by the Pierce County Energy Center — a 420 MW solar system with 680 MWh of battery storage expected online in 2027.
Water. Fireball Group LLC (the Google entity at this site) reports 547.88 megagallons (about 548 million gallons) as its '2025 Annual Water Consumption', per 1011 NOW (published 2026-09-30) citing filings to the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment (DWEE). The article calls this the highest annual use among the six data centers that had reported; the six together reported 765 million gallons for the prior year. Operator self-report, not independently measured. reportedMgd and coolingType are left unset: the figure is an annual total, and no cooling method is stated.
Community. Reception at the October 2019 groundbreaking was favorable among elected officials and local institutions: Gov. Pete Ricketts, Rep. Don Bacon ("We are proud to have you"), Papillion Mayor David Black, Sarpy County officials, OPPD and the Greater Omaha Chamber all attended and spoke in support. This reflects official reception at announcement/groundbreaking, not a later community-impact assessment; note that Nebraska has since legislated new data-center water- and power-disclosure requirements amid statewide concern about the sector.
What the source record says
Google data center at 14706 Schram Rd, Papillion, Sarpy County — announced Feb 2019 (built under shell entity Fireball Group LLC / 'Project Wizard'), a $600M project on ~275 acres, groundbreaking Oct 2019, operational ~2021. Confirmed by Google's own Nebraska location page (which lists Papillion, Omaha, and Lincoln as Google Nebraska sites). DISTINCT from the separate tracked proposed Google/Tenaska gas-plant project in SE Nebraska (Gage/Otoe area). No site-specific IT-load MW is disclosed. Coordinates are an approximate geocode of the disclosed Schram Rd address; a county-parcel pass could upgrade precision to exact.
Any MW value is reproduced as source-reported context. Its measurement boundary is not established consistently enough for comparison. Unknown is not zero.
