Energy. Explicit grid interconnection agreement with FirstEnergy for 300 MW, sited on the former Ohio Edison/Niles Generating Station property (demolished 2013) specifically because it retains industrial zoning and an existing substation.
Community. Niles City Council halted annexation talks April 20, 2026 after community backlash; no formal petition, zoning, or building-permit application was ever filed with the city. Weathersfield Township passed a 6-month moratorium.
