Legislation introduced (any outcome) · Prince George's County only (local rule)

Proposed This proposal has not been enacted or adopted.

Summary

Prince George's County zoning bill CB-019-2026 would end the detailed site plan exemption for qualified data centers, which the bill summary says would add pre-application neighborhood meetings and a Planning Board hearing, and would close the prior Zoning Ordinance route unless a development has vested rights. The committee recommended it 5-0 with amendments on 17 September 2026, it was introduced on 22 September 2026 and a public hearing was set for 27 October 2026. The county record shows Second Reading and no effective date as of 3 November 2026.

Scope

Prince George's County Council Bill CB-019-2026 (Draft 2, introduced 22 September 2026), a zoning bill, would repeal the exemption of qualified data centers from detailed site plan review, make them subject to detailed site plan approval and to consistency with the General Plan and applicable master, sector or functional plans, and make the prior Zoning Ordinance route unavailable for qualified data center uses unless a development has vested rights under Maryland law.

What this does not establish

  • The county record lists the 27 October 2026 public hearing but no action after 22 September 2026, so the outcome of that meeting was not established.
  • This record describes Draft 2, the introduced text. A proposed Draft 3 attached to the county record would add submittal requirements; it is not the introduced text.
  • At committee, the sponsor said the bill does not affect the two-year pause in CR-066-2026. That is a statement in the committee report, not bill text.

Unresolved questions

  • How the County Council will act on the bill after the 27 October 2026 public hearing, and on which draft.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.
