Community. The announced project size drew audible jeers from a packed Citizens Hall; residents cited continuous noise and the site's position in the Dog River Basin, which feeds the county's main drinking-water reservoir. The county's Planning and Zoning Commission recommended denial unanimously.
What the source record says
130 of the 700 acres would have held the campus, with 570+ acres kept as green space; the site borders Clinton Nature Preserve and sits partly inside Villa Rica city limits. Developer representatives estimated about $50 million in new tax revenue and 200-300 permanent jobs; those are proponent projections for a denied application and are not recorded as facility fields. The Douglas County Commission voted 4-1 to deny the rezoning for a six-building, 4.4 million sq ft campus on roughly 700 acres near Liberty Road and I-20 — the second denial for the property in seven months.
