Answer

Verdict on the wording above: Partially supported as of County pages and adopted budget summaries read 1 November 2026 Partially supported means the 40% figure fits the adopted General Fund; it does not fit the $5.4 billion the county calls its budget, and the $1.3 billion was not independently confirmed. What the evidence establishes
Partly. The county's adopted FY 2027 documents describe a $5.4 billion budget in total appropriations and a General Fund of about $3.2 billion. $1.3 billion would be about 40% of the General Fund but about 24% of the $5.4 billion total. The $1.3 billion itself was not found in the adopted documents read.
Biggest limitation
The adopted budget's data center revenue lines (the $1.3 billion figure was not found in the adopted documents read) and which base the county meant by 'total budget'.

Evidence

What the evidence supports

The county's Data Center Fact Sheet 2026 repeats the same sentence. The county's news item of 7 April 2026 says the Board of Supervisors approved a budget 'totaling approximately $5.4 billion in total appropriations' for county government and schools for FY 2027. The adopted FY 2027 Budget in Brief refers to 'our $5.4 billion budget', lists a General Fund appropriation of $3,218,218,368, and shows General Fund revenue totaling $3.2 billion. On those adopted figures, $1.3 billion would be about 40% of the General Fund and about 24% of total appropriations. The 40% figure is consistent with the General Fund, not with the $5.4 billion the county describes as its budget; the documents read do not say which base the county used for its share. The page's matching FY 2026 statement, $1.2 billion as 39% of the overall budget, was not checked against FY 2026 totals.
