Summary

On 28 May 2026 the Governor of Vermont vetoed H.727, the sustainable data center deployment bill, in a letter to the General Assembly saying existing law already gives Vermont substantial authority over data centers and that the bill would set a precedent with broader economic consequences. The bill itself, including the veto being sustained on 29 May 2026, is a separate record. The veto is a completed executive action and imposes no requirement.

What this does not establish

  • The veto letter is quoted from the Governor's press release that reproduces it; the Senate Journal of 28 May 2026 also prints the veto communication.
  • The sustained-veto vote is recorded on the separate bill record (vt-h727-sustainable-data-centers-act-as-passed), not re-verified here.
  • The veto is not a restriction on data centers and has no ongoing effect.

Unresolved questions

None recorded.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.
