Summary

New Jersey P.L.2026, c.75, approved on 27 August 2026 and effective immediately, requires data center owners or operators to file water and energy usage reports with the Board of Public Utilities, first within six months (or three months for centers already operating a year) and then every six months for three years. After a center's three-year reporting period, the Board decides whether its reporting should continue permanently. Reports cover items the section lists, such as energy use and water input.

What this does not establish

  • The chapter-law page for this 2026 chapter was not yet posted on pub.njleg.gov (HTTP 404 on 23 September 2026); the text is the final reprint both houses passed, and approval comes from the Legislature's official bill-history service. The reprint shows deletions in brackets; quoted language is the retained text.
  • Whether the Board has issued forms or rules for the reports was not checked.

Unresolved questions

  • Whether any report has been filed was not checked.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
