Summary

Senate Bill 762 of the 2025-2026 Michigan session would require the Public Service Commission to publish yearly reports of each data center's water use, by public water supply service area, and each data center's energy use, starting no later than 1 July 2027. Public water supplies would send the water data to the Commission each year. The bill was introduced and referred to the Senate Committee on Energy and Environment on 18 December 2025 and had no committee or floor vote recorded as of 23 September 2026. It is a proposal, not enacted law.

What this does not establish

  • The 1 July 2027 and 1 June 2027 dates are reporting deadlines the bill would set if enacted; they are not stored as effective or expiration dates.
  • The bill page history lists co-sponsor additions on 24 June and 1 July 2026 but no committee action; the Legislature's session continues, so the bill is recorded as pending, not failed.
  • The introduced text was opened; later substitutes, if any, were not found on the bill page.

Unresolved questions

None recorded.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
