Summary

House Bill 6265 of the 2025-2026 Michigan session would require data center owners or operators to file yearly reports with the Public Service Commission on water use, water sources, electricity use and the renewable share of that electricity, starting 1 March 2028, backed by civil fines. It is tie-barred to House Bills 6135 to 6142. The bill was introduced and referred to the House Committee on Government Operations on 26 August 2026. It is a proposal, not enacted law.

What this does not establish

  • 1 March 2028 is the first reporting deadline the bill would set if enacted; it is not an effective date or an expiration.
  • The bill takes effect only if eight tie-barred House bills are also enacted; those bills are not all recorded here.
  • Only the introduced text was opened.

Unresolved questions

None recorded.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
