Summary

On 21 August 2026 the Kentucky Public Service Commission approved a Retail Electric Service Agreement under which Big Rivers Electric Corporation supplies wholesale power to Kenergy Corp. for retail delivery to TeraWulf's planned data center campus at the former Century Aluminum Hawesville site in Hancock County (Maximum Contract Demand 482 MW). The Commission found the agreement reasonably allocates market-price, load-reduction and facility-cost risk of serving the data center to TeraWulf, approved it for service on and after the date of service of the order, and required any amendment to come back for approval.

What this does not establish

  • The agreement itself was not opened; its terms are described only as the order summarizes them, and parts were granted confidential treatment.
  • The order approves service from the date of service of the order; that service date is not printed in the text read, so no effective day is given.
  • Rehearing requests or later amendments after 21 August 2026 were not checked.
  • It applies to one customer site served by Big Rivers and Kenergy, not statewide.

Unresolved questions

None recorded.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
