Summary

The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council approved Resolution R-235-2026 (Legistar File 0528-26) on 9 June 2026. It directs the urban county government not to accept or process data center zone changes, development plans or operating permits, other than applications already filed, until 31 October 2026. The resolution took effect on passage. It is a temporary local pause, and later data center zoning items before the council are not part of this record.

What this does not establish

  • The text and approval date come from the official Legistar records for the resolution.
  • Follow-on zoning ordinance 0711-26 was removed from the docket on 25 August 2026; item 0775-26 (Data Center Regulations) is a committee item from 31 August 2026. Neither extends or ends the moratorium; the 31 October 2026 end date stands as of 23 September 2026.
  • 31 October 2026 is the stated end of the pause; an extension or replacement would change it.
  • The 1 October 2026 review corrected the instrument label from the Legistar file number to enacted Resolution R-235-2026. Current city engagement-page retrieval was refused; that failed retrieval does not advance the substantive review date.
  • Resolution R-236-2026, passed the same day, initiates zoning text amendments for data centers. It does not change the October 31, 2026 end of this pause.

Unresolved questions

  • Whether the pause is extended past 31 October 2026 or replaced by zoning text amendments.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.
