Summary

On 7 July 2026 the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution extending its moratorium on accepting applications to establish or expand data centers in unincorporated DeKalb County until 30 March 2027, covering zoning, land disturbance, building, business licence and occupancy applications. The resolution records that an earlier extension ran to 30 September 2026 and that proposed zoning regulations were denied on 23 June 2026. Lawfully operating data centers are not meant to be disturbed.

What this does not establish

  • This is an extension instrument. The original 2025 moratorium (file 2025-0996, approved 8 July 2025) and earlier extensions (2025-1228, 2025-1694 and a 9 June 2026 extension) are separate instruments not recorded here.
  • The adoption date comes from the official Legistar vote history; the resolution PDF itself is unsigned in the copy opened.
  • DeKalb County is not among the five Georgia counties with the most licensed rows; it is included because the moratorium was confirmable in official text.

Unresolved questions

  • Whether the Board adopts data center regulations before 30 March 2027 was not established.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.
