Summary
Florida Senate Bill 484 of 2026, chapter 2026-65, requires public electric utilities to file large load tariffs for 50-megawatt and larger customers by 1 October 2026 and not to serve such customers that are foreign entities, conditions water-use permits for large-scale data centers, keeps local planning authority over large load customers, defines "data center" for a public-records provision, and orders an OPPAGA study. The Governor approved it on 8 May 2026; most of it took effect on 1 July 2026, with the water-law definitions effective on becoming law.
What this does not establish
- Section 4 (the section 373.203 definitions) took effect upon becoming law on 8 May 2026; the rest took effect on 1 July 2026. The record stores 1 July 2026.
- The utility tariffs filed under section 366.043 and any Florida Public Service Commission orders on them are not part of this record; the Commission's site does not permit automated access.
- The large load tariff requirement in section 366.043 is general; the act names data centers in its title and in sections 288.075 and 373.262.
- Section 163.326 is described here in terms of local planning authority over large load customers; this record does not establish that it applies only to data centers.
Unresolved questions
- Whether each public utility filed its section 366.043 tariff by 1 October 2026 could not be checked (deadline not yet reached on the review date; Commission site blocked).
Relationships
Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.
- No related action is recorded.
