A rezoning for a potential ~2M sq ft hyperscale data center on Old Elberton Road (greenbelt, North Athens) was unanimously denied in early October 2025, and a data center moratorium followed. Planning staff said the requested classification would not itself permit a data center. Coordinates are the Athens city centroid.
