Provider notes
Energy. A 250-kilowatt solar unit contributes to the building's energy use. The cited source does not identify the grid supplier.
Water. Warm-water cooling through the compute racks, an airside economizer that uses untreated outdoor air roughly 75-80% of the year in New Mexico's dry climate, a passive thermosyphon heat-transfer loop, and cell-deck evaporative cooling used about 17% of the year — i.e. the design switches between evaporative and dry modes seasonally. The thermosyphon alone saved more than half a million gallons of water in its first six months.
What the source record says
Federal HPC data center housing the Astra and Vanguard systems. The cited source does not state floor area or IT power capacity, so capacityMw and landAcres are omitted. Coordinate is an approximate anchor on Sandia's Albuquerque campus at Kirtland AFB, not a building-level point.
Any MW value is reproduced as source-reported context. Its measurement boundary is not established consistently enough for comparison. Unknown is not zero.
Status history supplied by the source
- 2018-10 · source-reported operational
The 725E data center addition on Sandia's Albuquerque campus was completed in October 2018 to house the Astra supercomputer; it earned LEED v4 Gold BD+C: Data Center certification in June 2020.

Compute Atlas 1.34.1 with retained prior rows and publication holds. This is a DataCenterData composite, not an unmodified publisher edition. This row uses the captured source from 1.34.1, source as of 2026-10-14T20:40:52.293Z.
That does not mean the row is wrong, and it does not mean no reviewed record exists for the same place. A link is added only when an identifier or source establishes the match.
