What the source record says
HONEST INTAKE per prompt guidance: status is application 'on hold, not yet accepted' by the county — real filing, real acreage/investment figures reported, but pre-acceptance. Recorded as status=proposed with the hold explicitly noted rather than dropped, since it is a genuine, citable county application (not rumor). Sourced from the Fauquier County planning-database roundup (fauquiernow.com); status is early/speculative — a per-project county docket should confirm before elevating confidence.
Any MW value is reproduced as source-reported context. Its measurement boundary is not established consistently enough for comparison. Unknown is not zero.

The 2019 approval WAS withdrawn (confirmed: Convergent VA partner Jeffrey Price stated the original 2019-approved application was withdrawn due to complexity of study/evaluation needed), but this is not a dead project -- it was REVIVED: a pre-application meeting was held April 2024, formal application submitted June 2024, county staff review began August 2024 (documented in a Fauquier County Dept.
- 2026-10-14 · source-reported cancelled
In late Aug 2026 (Aug 27) Convergent VA withdrew its rezoning for the ~1.584M sq ft data center park south of Remington. It is pursuing by-right residential development (198-home subdivision) instead.
