Appalachian Voices reports Wise County residents learned of the project in late 2025 through a LinkedIn post rather than official county channels and raised transparency concerns; as of early March 2026 no additional public information was available. Appalachian Voices opposes the gas approach and advocates renewables instead, citing the solar array serving the nearby Mineral Gap data center.
