Provider notes
Community. More than 100 residents organized as 'Protect Our Resources' to press city leaders to stop or slow the project, citing noise and light pollution and water and electricity use in a town of about 6,000; the City Commission has been weighing a temporary data center moratorium.
What the source record says
Three-phase proposal: Phase 1 would convert a former Kmart on the south side of Raton into a data center drawing up to 5 MW, with later phases at a nearby power station and the city airport over roughly five years, totalling up to 50 MW. Nothing is approved — the feasibility study period ran to early August 2026 and the City Commission must still authorize any development. Atterix was incorporated in Colorado in December 2025.
Any MW value is reproduced as source-reported context. Its measurement boundary is not established consistently enough for comparison. Unknown is not zero.
Status history supplied by the source
- 2026-02 · source-reported proposed
Raton City Commission approved a memorandum of understanding with Denver-based Atterix LLC for a six-month feasibility study on an advanced digital hub; the MOU bars the city from soliciting a similar project during that window.
