Summary

The Elko New Market City Council passed and adopted Interim Ordinance No. 345 on 14 May 2026, effective immediately upon passage. It places a citywide moratorium on accepting or considering planning and zoning applications, rezonings, conditional use permits, variances and replatting related to data centers while the city studies its zoning rules. The ordinance states that it ends on 13 May 2027, or earlier if the city adopts new official controls, unless extended. It is an interim ordinance, not a permanent prohibition.

What this does not establish

  • The ordinance's title refers to prohibiting the location, establishment and operation of data centers, but its operative section restricts applications, rezonings, permits and subdivisions during the moratorium; this record describes the operative section.
  • The posted copies show blank signature lines; adoption rests on the printed adoption statement and the city-approved summary.

Unresolved questions

  • Whether the city adopts new official controls before 13 May 2027 or extends the interim ordinance.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
