Summary

The Marengo Township Board adopted Ordinance No. 2026-1 at its regular meeting on 24 February 2026 by a 5-0 vote. It enacts a one-year temporary moratorium on the permitting, consideration, approval, location, construction and installation of all data centers in the township, subject to extension by resolution, or until the township adopts data center regulations. The ordinance takes effect immediately after publication, and the clerk's certification states a summary was published on 6 March 2026. It is a temporary moratorium, not a permanent prohibition.

What this does not establish

  • The posted copy includes a blank notice-of-adoption form and a blank county filing date, so it may be a file copy rather than the final certified ordinance.
  • Section 7 makes the ordinance effective immediately after publication and the clerk's certification states a summary was published on 6 March 2026; this record does not treat that as a confirmed effective date.

Unresolved questions

  • Whether the ordinance took effect on publication on 6 March 2026, and the day its one-year term ends.
  • Whether the township extended the moratorium or adopted data center regulations.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
