Summary

The Chesaning Township Board of Trustees adopted Ordinance No. 26-001 on 7 May 2026; it was published on 17 May 2026 and took effect on 18 May 2026. It imposes a 12-month moratorium on siting, establishing, installing, constructing or maintaining data centers and on issuing permits, licenses and approvals for their establishment or use, while the Planning Commission studies zoning rules. It runs for 12 months from the effective date unless repealed sooner, and the township may extend it by up to six months. It is a temporary moratorium, not a permanent prohibition.

What this does not establish

  • The stored end date, 18 May 2027, is computed from the 12-month term and the printed effective date; the ordinance prints no calendar end date.
  • The moratorium's list includes maintaining data centers; how that word applies to any particular site is not interpreted here.
  • Whether the township has extended or repealed the moratorium was not checked beyond this document.

Unresolved questions

  • Whether the township extends the moratorium or adopts data center zoning amendments before the 12-month term ends.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
