Summary

The Audubon County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 2026-27 on 5 May 2026 with all members voting in favor, according to the meeting minutes, which reproduce the resolution after a public hearing held the same morning. The resolution imposes a temporary moratorium, effective immediately, on accepting or processing applications for the construction of commercial data centers, and its definition paragraph also refers to commercial cryptocurrency mining operations. It lasts until 1 May 2027 or until the county passes a permanent data center development ordinance. It is a temporary moratorium, not a permanent prohibition.

What this does not establish

  • The source is the minutes of the 5 May 2026 Board of Supervisors meeting, which reproduce Resolution 2026-27 with typed signatures and record the vote as all in favor; no separately signed copy was reviewed.
  • The definition paragraph uses both "commercial Data Centers" and "Data Storage Center"; this record does not interpret how far the cryptocurrency mining sentence extends the moratorium.
  • Whether the board later approved these minutes was not checked.
  • How the resolution applies inside incorporated cities in the county was not checked.

Unresolved questions

  • Whether the county passes a permanent data center development ordinance before 1 May 2027.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
