Summary

Vermont S.205 proposed a moratorium, until 1 July 2030, on operating or building AI data centers of more than 100 megawatts of new load, and a Public Utility Commission investigation and report. Its last recorded action is referral to the Senate Committee on Finance on 6 January 2026. The Senate adjourned sine die on 29 May 2026 under J.R.S. 56, ending the 2025-2026 biennium, so the bill did not pass.

What this does not establish

  • The record uses the bill as introduced; no committee action or amended text exists on the status page.
  • The bill page records no separate failure action; the end date is the day the Senate adjourned sine die under J.R.S. 56, the joint resolution for final adjournment of the 2025-2026 biennium.
  • The 1 July 2030 date was part of the proposal and is not an expiration of any law in effect.

Unresolved questions

None recorded.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
