Summary

Virginia House Bill 2377 of 2025 would have required every locality to include in its comprehensive plan provisions prioritizing and evaluating cooling methods that minimize water use, particularly when approving or siting data centers or similar land uses, and to consider such alternatives before approving water-reliant cooling. The Division of Legislative Services 2025 Session Summary lists it as failed; the 2025 Regular Session adjourned sine die on 22 February 2025, so it did not become law.

What this does not establish

  • The Legislative Information System bill page (the primary source link) is a JavaScript application whose bill text and history could not be read automatically when checked; the description and outcome come from the Division of Legislative Services 2025 Session Summary, not from a reading of the bill text.
  • 22 February 2025 is the day the 2025 Regular Session adjourned sine die; the Session Summary, which covers the session through that day, lists the bill as failed. The committee or floor action on which it failed, and its exact day, were not opened.

None recorded.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
