Scope
Utah H.B. 585 (2026 General Session), Data Center Amendments, would have enacted a Utah Code chapter 54-27, Data Center Energy Reporting, requiring operators of large data centers (facilities that house networked server computers as their primary service and have a peak electrical demand of 10 megawatts or more) to report projected and actual energy use to their electrical corporation, electrical corporations to report aggregated information to the Public Service Commission, and the commission to report to the Legislature. The House struck its enacting clause and filed it on 6 March 2026; it did not become law.

Summary
Utah House Bill 585 of 2026 proposed energy-use reporting by large data centers of 10 megawatts or more to their electrical utility, with aggregated reports to the Public Service Commission and the Legislature. The Legislature's bill data show that it was returned to the House Rules Committee and that on 6 March 2026 the House struck the enacting clause and filed it with bills not passed. It did not become law and creates no reporting duty.
