Summary

The Iowa County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 2026-07-31 on 31 July 2026 by roll call vote, with four members voting aye and one absent. The resolution enacts a twelve-month moratorium on accepting, processing, considering or approving subdivision, site plan, conditional use, building permit, rezoning and other development applications for data centers in unincorporated Iowa County, and took effect on passage. It does not apply to legally established data centers in operation, to applications with all final approvals before it took effect, or to routine maintenance of existing lawful facilities. It is a temporary resolution, not a permanent prohibition.

What this does not establish

  • The minutes are headed 31 July 2026 and each page is marked 07-31-2026, but their opening sentence says the Board met on 24 July 2026, while the same minutes approve the minutes of 24 and 28 July 2026. This record uses 31 July 2026 as the adoption date.
  • The minutes state that they are unofficial until approved at the next Board meeting; the approved minutes and the signed resolution were not reviewed.
  • The stored 31 July 2027 end date is computed as twelve months from adoption on 31 July 2026; the resolution prints no calendar end date.

Unresolved questions

  • Whether the Board rescinds or extends the resolution before 31 July 2027.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
