Summary

California AB 93 would have required data center owners or operators to give their water supplier a water-use estimate before an initial business license and to self-certify water reporting at initial licensing and renewal. The Governor announced its veto on 11 October 2025, so it did not become law. A later bill on a similar subject, AB 2619 of 2026, was enacted as chapter 437 and is a separate record.

What this does not establish

  • The primary source is the Governor's 11 October 2025 legislative update listing the veto; the linked veto-message PDF has no text layer and was not transcribed.
  • The enrolled text comes from an earlier review's extract of the official bulk file pubinfo_2025.zip; the saved copy was checked as unchanged.
  • The later AB 2619 (Statutes of 2026, chapter 437) is a separate, enacted instrument and does not revive AB 93.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
