Federal EPA registry records that point to data centers
Street addresses where the U.S. EPA Facility Registry Service lists a registration whose name says data center or whose registrant is a known operator under industry code 518210, and that are not already rows in the licensed directory or operator-listed sites. Every record links to EPA’s own detailed facility report.
Each address is where the U.S. EPA Facility Registry Service lists a registration whose name says data center, or whose name matches a known data-center operator and whose industry code is 518210 (data processing, hosting). A registration usually exists because of standby generators or hazardous waste. It does not establish that a data center operates there, its size, its owner, or whether one registration covers a building or a campus. DataCenterData has not verified these addresses independently. The list is not a census, and its numbers are registry records, never added to licensed rows, operator-listed sites or reviewed records.

States with registry addresses
Counts are street addresses with one or more EPA registry records. They are not added to licensed rows or operator-listed sites for the same state.
What this layer is
A selection, by DataCenterData, of records in EPA’s Facility Registry Service (published through the ECHO Exporter) that point to data centers. Two kinds of record are included. Registered name: the registered name says data center, and the record carries the data-processing industry code or a Clean Air Act registration. Known operator: the registered name matches a known data-center operator in DataCenterData’s alias table, and the record carries industry code 518210 (data processing, hosting); the registry does not say what that facility is. Names are shown exactly as registered.
How the records were selected
- Only active records with a Clean Air Act or RCRA hazardous-waste registration and a full street address are included. Records without a house number, with a location description, a number range, a suite or a floor, and warehouse, logistics, headquarters or office registrations, are held back for review, as are records whose name alone suggests a data center and known-operator records at addresses reviewed as offices or laboratories.
- Records at the street address of a licensed row are not repeated here: they appear as “Federal registry record” on 52 licensed record pages. Records at the street address of an operator-listed site appear on 15 operator-listed site pages. One site keeps one page.
- Records that a crosswalk places near a licensed row, or at a site an operator lists under another street address, are held for review and not shown. So are records in a city where a licensed row or an operator-listed site of the same operator, or with the same distinctive name, gives no street to compare.
- Only EPA fields are used: name, street, city, state, ZIP, registry ID and program flags. No compliance, inspection or enforcement value is copied, and no open-map value is published.
Units used on this page
One EPA registration; it may cover generators for a whole campus or a single building. An address can carry more than one registration; each is shown separately.
What this layer does not establish
- That the facility is operating, or its current status.
- Its size, capacity or power.
- Who owns or operates it (the registered name is the registrant’s, as EPA records it).
- That it is a data center: the registry gives an industry code, not a use.
- Whether the registration covers one building or a whole campus.
- That the list is complete, or that any state list is a census.
The printable national overview and detailed map include this layer. The detailed map lists these registry addresses and places a marker only where a supported coordinate is published. Site search lists these addresses in their own group, “Federal EPA registry records”, never counted with other layers. Browse the licensed directory → · Operator-listed sites →
