Summary

Council Bill 26-0217, introduced in the Baltimore City Council on 13 July 2026, would make a data center capable of using 5 megawatts or more of electricity a prohibited use Citywide and define related terms. As of 23 September 2026 the official Legistar record shows it in committee. It is a proposal, not an enacted ordinance, and would apply only in Baltimore City.

What this does not establish

  • Only the official Legistar matter record (title and status) was opened; the bill text was not read, so any duration, termination clause or exemptions are not recorded.
  • Enacted Ordinance 26-128 (Council Bill 26-0158) is a separate instrument with a 10-megawatt definition.

Unresolved questions

  • Whether the committee advances the bill and in what form.

Relationships

Supersession means a later instrument replaces the earlier legal effect. Repeal links identify the repeal instrument and the measure it ends. A later implementation or related letter is not treated as a replacement unless the record says so.

  • No related action is recorded.
